ABSTRACT Chagas disease is caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, and is mainly transmitted by the excretions of blood-sucking bugs. In Mexico, Triatoma dimidiata is one of the main vectors, and three haplogroups (hg) are present: hg1, hg2 and hg3. In the Yucatan Peninsula, two haplogroups are living in sympatry (hg1 and hg2 recently synonymized with hg3), as well as hybrids of these. However, there is little information on reproductive success among these, and its possible impact on transmission cycles. Therefore, the aim of this work was to evaluate reproductive success among the haplogroups present in the Yucatan Peninsula. Copulation behavior was evaluated in an experimental arena. The tests were performed with virgin insects and the following experimental groups were formed: hg1 male with hg1 female; hg1 male with hg3 female; hg3 male with hg1 female. Ten pairs of each combination were made. The variables measured were: copulation time, pre-oviposition time, fecundity and egg fertility. No significant differences were observed in the parameters evaluated. However, fertile eggs were observed in the crosses of haplogroups 1 and 3, demonstrated that the reproductive success among the haplogroups present in the state is viable. In addition, the present work provides new knowledge related to the biology and ethology of the vector
